ICPC Inaugurates Anti- Corruption Unit In NAEC

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission(ICPC) on Wednesday, 5th May 2021 inaugurated and inducted the Anti- Corruption and Transparency Unit of the Commission(ACTU). The ACTU as an initiative of the ICPC and approved by FG is to serve as an in- house mechanism for corruption prevention within MDAs. The ACTU complements the ICPC in building strong institutions and entrenching principles of accountability and transparency in government MDAs.

The NAEC ACTU is expected to conduct systems study and review of processes and procedures of NAEC. It is also expected to conduct continued sensitization of staff on and against corruption, implement Code of Ethics, conduct corruption risk assessment and preliminary investigations into complaints received amongst others.

The Unit has Barrister Zainab Zakari(NAEC) as interim Chairperson.
