Mr. Araoye said the proposed Ekiti Knowledge Zone is geared towards:
(a. strengthening human capital in the state and the country as a whole
(b. diversifying the state’s revenue base
(c. engaging in research and development in various fields, in partnership with the public and private sector.
Already, over 100 hectares of land has been set aside for the project which will be modeled like the silicon valley in the United States and will be the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Among other infrastructures planned for the Knowledge Zone is the construction of an International Cargo Airport.
NAEC is expected to come up with an MoU that will spell out the modalities for the partnership and identify the various roles expected to be played by both NAEC and Ekiti State Government.
A meeting is already being planned to discuss and agree on the various elements of the MoU.
